Due Italian in Yotsuya

Due Italian

Among ramen shops that appeal to ladies, Due Italian is up there. It's been on countless TV programs as an example of the long-lasting gourmet ramen trend. And while there are plenty of food dudes on TV who fit in to any kind of shop, it takes a bit of elegance to bring the girls.

Well, I was here for a TV shooting as well, alongside Rena Nozawa of AKB48.

The chef, Ishizuka-san (石塚さん) has been at it for years. He made a name for himself as a gourmet chef turned ramen master. Opened a few shops, worked overseas, and developed his Italian skills for almost 30 years before turning to ramen.

While the shop has a few menu items, the uncured ham fromage (生ハムフロマージュ) is the one that people talk about. Homemade noodles in a strong shio broth, topped with a cream cheese blend. The cheese is more like a sauce, and blended with sharp cheddar to give it a kick.

Ramen is all about balance, and this one features a lot of intense flavors playing off each other.

Thank you Ishizuka-san for a signed copy of your book!

Here is the video we made for the TV show #TokyoExtra:

I didn't even know she had a channel, but my friend Sakoto Morimoto made a video as well. Subscribed!

Excellent bowl o' ramen. I always go for the fromage. A must eat each time I'm in Tokyo.
