ラハメン ヤマン (Rahmen Yahman in Nerima)

ラハメン ヤマン

On my adventure radar for quite some time, I finally made it out to Rahmen Yahman. I'll be honest, I was hooked by the name alone.

I was listening to a mashup mix of rapper Mos Def and dub music when I met up with Keizo. No need to provide your own music though, Yahman does the Jamaica thing to 90%. (No jerk chicken on the menu...)

Sometimes, it's all about the little things. Look around for some secret menu items.

And on the walls.

The ramen (rahmen?) is a solid shoyu.

A healthy one at that. This shop appears in one of my books dedicated to ramen that is preservative free. Personally, I haven't had any adverse reactions to MSG in Japan, but if you do, Yahman won't be a problem.

The attention to Jamaica detail is great. Check out the custom bowls.

If I'm out here again, I want to try the junk-style tsukemen.

I asked him if he recommended adding some spice to the soup.

He said it's not a good idea, since the sauce is a bit too much for most. Never backing down from a food challenge, I dove in.

Rahmen = great.
Rahmen with Death Sauce = not so much.

Great blog! Could you please tell me the name of the MSG-free ramen book?

Thanks in advance!
