麺屋 天孫降臨
Work took me to Kobe for a night. I've been here many times before, and the ramen was always a let-down. Stick with the Kobe beef!
And a stroll down to Chinatown for some shaved frozen fruit.
But like any city in Japan, Kobe has new shops every year. Tensonkorin, near the main Sannomiya Station, was ranked as a winner according to the local press.
And with a name like that, I've got to go! 天孫降臨 refers to a Japanese myth about the sun goddess descending to earth.
The shoyu ramen with an free range egg was the number one menu item. Easy decision.
Soild. A rich tonkotsu broth. Some shaved katsuoboshi fish flakes added a unique umami kick that took this one from good to great. Certainly something I would be getting on occasion if I lived in town.
The egg was perfect. Good eggs are everywhere these days, but the slight flavoring on this one made it stand out.
